Silvio, also known as Goran the Elder, started building ship models at the age of 8 because Lego was no longer enough for him. In two years, he built a Greek bireme from only construction plans. The joy of making things for him comes from the curiosity to understand how the object in front of him is made.
This thirst for knowledge led him to new experiences, such as when, at the age of 13, he visited an exhibition dedicated to the restoration of the horses of San Marco. Inspired by what he saw, he went home and modeled a head of the animal with clay.
His talent did not go unnoticed. His father, recognizing his modeling skills, suggested having the head cast in bronze. This allowed Silvio to meet the foundry owner, who, impressed by his ability, offered him a job as a model maker in the foundry. Silvio accepted and, during high school and university, worked with passion, acquiring new knowledge in the art of modeling.
Silvio continued to cultivate his passion and chose to study Valorizations and Conservation of Cultural Heritage, graduating as a restorer and doing this work for eight years.
Tired of dedicating himself solely to the restoration of other people's works, at a certain point, Silvio decided to reinvent himself. He got a job as a model maker in an art foundry, thus returning to his roots. In this environment, he refined his skills by learning the fundamental techniques for casting a wide range of materials and objects.
Later, he collaborated with leading brands in the automotive industry. He worked at Bburago, where he created the masters for the miniature car models intended for production. Despite the sad ending of the company, Silvio faced this obstacle as a challenge and an opportunity to grow further.
With a change of sector, he found employment in an automotive company, working as a style modeler. In this role, he made a valuable contribution to the realization of various projects, including the Bellagio of Moto Guzzi, the V7 of Moto Guzzi, the BB1 Millepercento, the Alba Millepercento based on the Guzzi platform, V Twin Gezzi and Brian, as well as two other motorcycles for the Chinese market. In addition to this, he faced stimulating challenges by creating parts for iconic automotive brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Alfa Romeo, even working on details such as the Punto dashboard.
He also worked in the commercial vehicle sector, where he contributed to the creation of interior and exterior designs for brands such as New Holland, CNH, Carraro, Same and Deutz Fahr.
Silvio is one of the members of Rusty Brains, an artistic and professional partnership between friends united by their passion for motorcycles and modeling.
Today he continues to be an enthusiast and collector of technical drawings of ships, thus preserving a link with his artistic roots and his first inspirations.
